NEW Cyanine Dyes

The OysterŽ Dyes

The OysterŽ Dyes are a new class of cyanine dyes with shielded chromogenic groups. These patented fluorophores, now available as OysterŽ dyes, combine excellent quantum yields and high photostability with a very low aggregation and absorption tendency. With these dyes, high label degrees can be realized which lead to extraordinary bright conjugates without the usual internal quenching.

These new fluorphores, OysterŽ - 556 and OysterŽ - 645 are designed as substitutes for the well know CyDyesT, Cy3T and Cy5T, respectively. Moreover, OysterŽ-656 was developed to match the emission band of a 650nm laser diode. Like CyT and Alexa FluorT dyes, the OysterŽ dyes are pH insensitive in the physiological range. A point by point comparison to Cy5T reveals the advantages of the new OysterŽ dyes:

Brighter Fluorescence
Due to the reduced aggregation tendency, higher ratios of dye/protein can be realized as compared to Cy5T, resulting in brighter conjugates (Fig, 1 and 2).

Higher Photostability

OysterŽ dyes and conjugates show a greater photostability than Cy5T conjugates (Fig.3), which is of practical advantage for taking images.

Prolonged Fluorescence

Lifetime The new structural features of the OysterŽ dyes result in a prolonged fluorescence lifetime of the corresponding conjugates.

Instrumentation Compatibility

The OysterŽ dyes show absorption and emission characteristics close to the well know CyT dyes, which allows them to be used with established fluorescence detection systems.

It is noteworthy to mention that by purchase of our patented dyes, the consumer obtains an open license for their applications. The new dyes are available as free acids and preactivated as succinimidyl-esters for coupling to antibodies and aminofunctionalized oligonucleotides.

Currently denovo provides fluorophors for three different wavelengths. In the long run the product portfolio will be extended to a larger number of fluorescent dyes, which will cover the full spectral range from blue to near infrared. To allow coupling with various kinds of biomolecules, all fluorophors are available with different functional groups or even as already optimized conjugates with frequently used secondary antibodies. Furthermore the synthesis of customized bioconjugates is offered.
